Distance & bearing are calculated live (great-circle / haversine + initial-bearing formulas) from published airport coordinates. Flight time assumes ~850 km/h average cruise speed plus a taxi/climb/descent buffer — actual time varies by aircraft, winds, and routing. CO₂ is a rough per-passenger estimate (short/medium/long-haul averages), not a specific-flight measurement. Covers ~180 major IATA codes. Use "Copy shareable link" to post a direct result link in your articles.
Editorially curated — compiled from publicly known industry safety audits (IOSA certification, fleet age, incident history) and outlets like AirlineRatings.com & Skytrax. Not a live feed — update periodically as new audits are published. Click a column header to sort.
Editorially curated — based on widely cited Skytrax-style award patterns and cabin-product reputation. Not a live feed; refresh yearly when new award cycles are announced.
Editorially curated — low-cost carriers known to operate in each region. Actual fares change daily; use as a "who to check first" shortlist, not a live price feed.
How is flight time calculated on SkyBoard?
SkyBoard calculates the great-circle (shortest-path) distance between two airports using their published coordinates, then divides by an average commercial jet cruise speed of about 850 km/h and adds a fixed buffer for taxi, takeoff, climb, and descent. It's a reliable estimate, not a live schedule — always confirm exact times with the airline.
Does SkyBoard show real-time flight tracking?
No. SkyBoard estimates flight time and distance between airports using geographic calculations. For live in-air flight tracking, use Finx24's live ADS-B flight tracker.
Which airlines are considered the safest?
Airlines with strong IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) certification, modern fleets, and long incident-free records — such as Qantas, Singapore Airlines, and Emirates — are consistently cited by industry safety auditors. See the Safest Airlines tab for a fuller list.
How accurate is the CO2 emissions estimate?
The CO2 figure is a rough per-passenger, economy-class, one-way estimate based on average industry emission factors for short, medium, and long-haul flights. Actual emissions depend on aircraft type, load factor, and routing.
Is this flight time calculator free to use?
Yes, SkyBoard is completely free with no sign-up required. It's built and maintained by Finx24 for aviation enthusiasts and travelers.
