Restructuring and Recovery
from 2017 onward, etihad pulled back it wound down several equity partnerships, cut routes, and restructured its operations covid19 hit just as the airline was finding its footing again etihad grounded its entire a380 fleet and for a period, its ceo described the superjumbo as having 'two engines too many' the airline's future looked uncertain
the recovery came steadily etihad reported its first fullyear net profit in 2011, went through the equity alliance era, took losses, restructured, and then turned profitable again in 2023 posting a net profit of aed 525 million (approximately $143 million) in 2024, revenue hit $69 billion, up 25% from the year before the a380s returned to service new destinations opened the airline is now actively targeting 30 million passengers and a fleet of over 160 aircraft by 2030 under its journey 2030 plan

etihad received its first a350 1000 in 2021 and now operates 12 its one of the most fuel efficient widebodies in service using 25% less fuel per seat than the aircraft it replaces the newest etihad a350 delivered in october 2025 operates flights to atlanta tokyo and delhi the a350 also carries etihads newest business class product business studios with direct aisle access
